We are back from the Dominican Republic (pictures coming soon) and so glad to be here! Our travel day/1st Anniversary was an amazing comedy of errors. The day started great and we sat on the beach enjoying the sun & surf, then after arriving at the airport, we stood in line ... for over two hours. Once finally getting checked in, we went to the security line, then also the customs line. When we arrived in the customs line, we heard the final boarding call announcement in Spanish. We suddenly jolted into action and began running full speed through the airport.
The Punta Cana airport is unlike most airports you may have visited. You literally walk out from the terminal onto the tarmac, so here Mike and I are running as fast as we can onto the tarmac frantically.
Thankfully, we made it on time and went to our seats on the very last row of the plane (no window and next to the restroom). By this time, we were starving and Delta ran out of sandwiches just before they reached our row. Our flight attendant was really nice and gave us trail mix, peanuts, m&m's and cookies for free.
Finally we made it home and were welcomed by a 90 degree house! Our power service from GA Power has been acting up lately and we have been experiencing partial power, where some appliances work and others don't. Yesterday, the AC chose not to work.
Mike quickly unpacked and repacked for his 6 day work week this week and he was off. Just after he left, our power went out completely and I listened to the fire alarm beep every other minute for the entire night.
Thankfully, everything is fixed now and we are ready to get back into the swing of things! God is good!
Also, congrats to Jessica & Stephen on their first home and Mom for her new home purchase also!
